Category Archives: Satisfaction Sundays

How can we find greater and greater satisfaction in God? By knowing that, through the work of Jesus Christ and the Spirit, God the Father finds great satisfaction in all who follow Jesus by faith in Him.

In this series I will be highlighting this amazing love as we read through His Word over the year.

God’s love for His people because of Christ should be our focus every day, but it’s especially appropriate for Sundays.

Most Christians observe the Lord’s Sabbath (rest) on Sunday probably because the early church intentionally moved their worship from the historic sixth day Sabbath to a first day Sabbath. (Acts 20:7 and 1 Corinthians 16:2) Why? In Old Testament times, they looked forward to the rest they would receive from God through the Messiah. Now we recognize that we look back on what the Messiah, Jesus, has accomplished in His death and resurrection. And we look forward to His return when we will come for His people to live with Him in perfect joy forever.

For Jesus said, “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Luke 12:32-34)

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self[a] is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.  For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that … Continue reading

A Word for the Week: “Progress” (Philippians 3:13-14)

Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,  I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in … Continue reading

A Word for the Week: “Pride” (Philippians 2:4-11)

Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.  Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a … Continue reading

A Word for the Week: “Pressure” (2 Corinthians 4:7-10)

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.  We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying … Continue reading

A Word for the Week: “Praise” (1 John 1:1-4)

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life—  the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim … Continue reading

A Word for the Week: “Potential” (1 John 3:1-3)

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.  Beloved, we are God’s children now, and … Continue reading

A Word for the Week: “Pieces” (1 Corinthians 12:21-25)

The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.”  On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and … Continue reading

A Word for the Week: “Peace” (Romans 5:6-10)

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.  For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—  but God shows his love for us in that while we … Continue reading

A Word for the Week: “Paradox” (1 Peter 1:10-12)

Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories.  It was revealed … Continue reading

A Word for the Week: “Pace” (Galatians 6:1-5)

Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.  Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.  For if anyone thinks he is something, when he … Continue reading

Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.   But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we … Continue reading
