Each week this series will offer a link to a different Christian website on a specific topic: marriage, finances, apologetics, sexuality, parenting, and much, much more. Sharing the link to a Christian website is one of the easiest ways to serve some of their specific hurts and questions.
When I originally created this page I tried to write a weekly article on the topic of a current event to model and encourage biblical perspectives on the world around us. After just a few months, I realized that I couldn’t keep up the pace. All of tools4trenches is written and produced after (or in the early hours before) my daytime duties as an Army Chaplain, and I had to scale back on this after-hours ministry. I have, however, kept those few articles under this page, if you’re interested.
My intent in those articles is not to tell the reader what I believe but to encourage them to begin asking deeper questions about the heart of the matter. The world around us preaches subtle and not-so-subtle heart-level messages to us daily, and we can only seek appropriate solutions when we’ve rightly identified the problems.
And one of the bottom line solutions is to be intentional and consistent in renewing our minds in Christ. For joy in Christ must be more than heights of emotion. It must be grounded in depths of understanding our Savior and King in every area of life.
And Jesus said “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:13-16)
None of the original articles in this series were overtly “religious”, but most of them were on emotionally charged topics. And emotion is always a direct reflection of our spirit. Consider the following.
