Category Archives: Satisfaction Sundays

How can we find greater and greater satisfaction in God? By knowing that, through the work of Jesus Christ and the Spirit, God the Father finds great satisfaction in all who follow Jesus by faith in Him.

In this series I will be highlighting this amazing love as we read through His Word over the year.

God’s love for His people because of Christ should be our focus every day, but it’s especially appropriate for Sundays.

Most Christians observe the Lord’s Sabbath (rest) on Sunday probably because the early church intentionally moved their worship from the historic sixth day Sabbath to a first day Sabbath. (Acts 20:7 and 1 Corinthians 16:2) Why? In Old Testament times, they looked forward to the rest they would receive from God through the Messiah. Now we recognize that we look back on what the Messiah, Jesus, has accomplished in His death and resurrection. And we look forward to His return when we will come for His people to live with Him in perfect joy forever.

For Jesus said, “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Luke 12:32-34)

A Word for the Week: “Ability” (Mark 10:23-27)

And Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How difficult it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!”  And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said to them again, “Children, how difficult it is to enter the kingdom … Continue reading

4 reasons Easter is less popular than Christmas

“He is risen!”  And fellow believers would respond with equal excitement, “He is risen indeed!”  It’s a traditional greeting among Christians celebrating Jesus’ resurrection for only God knows how long.  But for many that’s about all the excitement that Easter … Continue reading

1 & 2 Kings (part 1 of 2): the need for godly leadership

2 Samuel: because human kingdoms get muddy

As powerfully as the book of 1 Samuel gave us clear distinctions between servants after God’s own heart versus pretenders after their own profit, 2 Samuel shows us that it’s not always that clear. This record of God’s people is … Continue reading

1 Samuel: servants after God’s own heart…and others

Many books of the Bible are commonly associated with a key verse, section, or recurring concept around which everything else seems to revolve. In 1 Samuel, that’s probably God’s call to be a servant after His own heart as we … Continue reading
